COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) —
Denmark's top prosecutor says the Danish branch of a small radical Islamic movement cannot be banned.
The prosecutor's office says it decided against imposing a ban on the Hizb ut-Tahrir group because it hasn't violated the country's constitution. It's the second time since 2004 that prosecutors have reached that conclusion. Thursday's decision was prompted by a request from the Justice Ministry to reinvestigate the group. The movement's spokesman has been jailed for printing remarks considered anti-Semitic and making threats against the Danish prime minister. The movement reportedly has a few hundred members in Denmark.
